Malcolm Malone is Co-Founder and Principal, leading DME operational efforts with an active role in acquisitions and underwriting. Malcolm has been an active real estate investor since 2008, starting with hands-on experience in Kansas City, MO, during the distressed housing crisis. From 2008-2012, Malcolm worked for both PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Ernst & Young (EY) in Advisory and Audit/Assurance services. Malcolm assisted on several public and private REIT audits and financial transformation projects. He started his real estate career by acquiring a small portfolio of rentals and developing a systemic approach to acquire, rehab, and sell several fix-n-flips.
In 2015, Malcolm founded his construction company (Best Refinishers-KC) to support his real estate purchases, developing a focus on commercial tenant-ready and multifamily value-add projects. Through his six years of experience, Malcolm successfully navigated several interior renovations (e.g., bath, kitchen, MEPs) and exterior renovations (e.g., sidewalks, roofing, etc.) at scale with renovation budgets ranging from $2-5M. Malcolm's public accounting, acquisitions, and operations experience positioned him well to purchase his first 24-unit apartment complex in 2017 with a partner, where he raised $1M of the total $3M private capital he has raised over his real estate career. Malcolm has successfully advised several owners on value-add projects, offering construction insights and tried-and-true value engineering trade tips. After personally managing a portfolio of 32 single-family home rentals, renovating 67 fix-and-flips, and completing several large-scale multifamily value-add projects, Malcolm liquidated his portfolio and sold his construction business in 2021 to continue his real estate career focused exclusively as a full-time apartment investment Sponsor with DM Equities.
Malcolm has a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Hofstra University. He resides in Arlington, VA, with his wife and two daughters.
Chad Daksha is Co-Founder and Principal of DME, leading acquisitions and financial analysis. Chad started his journey in real estate investing by personally purchasing a duplex, then continuing to acquire and operate apartment buildings in DE, still owning them to this date with a long term buy-and-hold approach. Through his journey, he has gained valuable experience in acquisitions, capital markets, and operations. To reap operational efficiencies, valuation benefits, and open doors to real estate for others, Chad pursued larger commercial assets, strategically forming DM Equities in the process. To this point, he found a mentor in Jan 2023 to seek guidance from industry experts on growing properly and avoiding catastrophic mistakes, realizing the biggest risks are the ones that are unknown.
Chad is characterized by his analytical rigor and unparalleled work ethic. He adds value with his expertise in technology, having lead and completed software projects for the DoD, Johns Hopkins, JP Morgan's Investment Bank, and a FinTech company serving the largest institutional banks in the nation. Chad's acumen, passion, and technological savvy drive his mission to modernize the real estate investment landscape and improve communities in the process.
Chad graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Delaware, inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi during his tenure. He resides in Alexandria, VA, with his wife and dog.
